Living in the present moment means letting go of the past and not waiting for the future. It means living your life consciously, aware that each moment you breathe is a gift. Choosing to live in the past or the future not only robs you of enjoyment today, but it also robs you of truly living. We all make mistakes but that doesn’t mean you have to live the rest of your life obsessing over it. We can’t change our past. What’s done is done, but we can always learn from the mistakes that we made and ensure that next time we won’t do the same. Constantly worrying about your future does you no good either. What has to happen will definitely happen whether or not you constantly think about it. Living in the present and experiencing each and every moment to the fullest is essential.

Who knows if tomorrow we would get the same opportunity?

Living in the present gives us the chance to learn from the many events that go on in our daily lives. Your past does not define you. When you live in the present moment all your past experiences give you strength to fight and face the situations. Future goals become clearer because you have control over your present thoughts. Living in the present helps you to focus on your goals . Let us appreciate the present moment and give it the importance it deserves. Meditating , jotting down your blessings, exercising, setting goals, spending time with your loved ones, going for a long walk and taking a break to enjoy a small vacation are some ways to connect with the present moment.

As Mother Teresa said — “be happy in the moment, that’s enough.” Each moment is all we need, not more. Living in the present is important for your mental well being . Yesterday is history. Tomorrow is a mystery. Today is a gift. That is why it is called the present. Your life requires your mindful presence in order to live it. Be here now.
