All human beings live to achieve something, complete their desired goals, become successful, fulfill all their wishes and so on but have we ever wondered as to why these things become our motivation? Believing in ourselves brings us one step closer to all we wish to achieve which in return builds self-confidence, self-esteem, and self-worth. We all, more or less, know about our self-worth but some people have low self-worth and here the comes the problem. They think themselves to be unworthy of achieving much because they aren’t confident about their potential. Low self-worth simply means a person feels less important or competent and has little value of himself/herself in his/her mind.

Problems which arise due to low self-worth-

Low self-worth always leads to self-criticism. People become more cynical. They tend to develop a negative attitude towards life due to which various problems arise which are mentioned below:-

  • Impatient behaviour.
  • Low self-esteem which results in further complications.
  • Short tempered behaviour due to which people get irritated and angry on even the smallest of things.
  • Become less tolerant.
  • Cynical approach towards life.
  • Excessive pessimism.
  • Change in attitude resulting in introverted nature and feeling unlovable.
  • Affects work-life due to poor and low performance.
  • Root of various mental health problems like stress, depression, anxiety, burnout etc.
  • Indulging in self-accusation, self-pity, self-harm.

Negative Attitude, Negative Thoughts, Negative Vibes , these all are consequences of low self-worth.

Factors responsible for low self-worth

Low self-worth is a big issue or mainly it can be addressed as the root of various mental health problems. Feeling of low self-worth basically arises due to various factors which together result in depletion of self-esteem of the individual.

Some of these factors are mentioned below:-

  • Facing continuous criticism from friends and family.
  • Failure in achieving desired goals.
  • Relationships falling apart or breakups.
  • Overthinking.
  • Low performance in recent tasks.

Coping techniques for low self-worth

Feeling of low self-worth makes the life of an individual miserable as hell. Life is too short to be wasted, so don’t waste it in blaming yourself and others. Thus,it is very important that one must know of healthy coping techniques regarding improving the feeling of self-worth and living a happy life :-

  • Positive situational reaction and control.
  • Positive self-instruction in difficult situations.
  • Being strong and patient.
  • Following your instincts and heart which will help in increasing positivity.
  • Being social.
  • Talk to your friends and family when in need.
  • Consulting an expert if necessary. Don’t hesitate to ask for help.
  • Believing in yourself because you are strong you have always been.
  • Stop overthinking in the first place. It will bring nothing but sadness and sorrow which will result in further complications.
  • Good things take time to happen. Know that.

It is very important that you must do the hard work for the completion of your desired goals; do your best, don’t think about rest. If you’re willing to be a good person and want to live a happy and peaceful life, then accepting yourself is the first step towards maintaining a healthy self-esteem and self-worth which will ultimately convert your lonely and sad life into a happy one.
