How Do I Tell My Parents I’m Depressed?
Often classified as a mood disorder, depression is a feeling of sadness,
loss or anger that interfere in a person’s daily life.
Depression causes:
Family history
Early childhood trauma
Brain structure
Medical conditions
Drug use
Symptoms:
Irritability, agitation or restlessness
Lower sex drive
Inability to focus, concentrate or make decisions
Insomnia or sleeping too much
Change in appetite and/or weight, eating too much or too little
Tiredness and lack of energy
Unexplainable crying spells
Unexplainable physical symptoms such as headaches or body aches
Feeling hopeless or worthless
Withdrawal from social situations and normal activities
Thoughts of death or suicide
One can fight depression by strong social support. Children, who are not
immune to depression need to be checked regularly for physical
complaints, behavioral problems and other symptoms of depression.
Although talking is difficult in such a situation, it is the best therapy.
