Stress can also be defined as disequilibrium of mind is evoked by mental
uneasiness. This uneasiness is caused by various factors like upcoming
exam, unmet deadlines, family or friend issues, traffic jam,
environmental hassle and the list goes on. There are certain elements
that act as building blocks of stress.

Such stressors can be of two types;
Short term stressors and Long term stressors.

It is thought that mental illnesses can only do harm and there is no denying that stress causes us trouble and discomfort. However, in some situations, stress acts as a driving source for achieving one’s aim.

So stress is of two types i.e.
Eustress (positive stress that causes no harm to the mind and body) and
Distress (negative stress that causes mind troubles and uneasiness).

Factors like individual differences, lifestyle and mindset
(positive/negative) affect the kind of stress we have. So while we can’t
escape the stress we can use optimism as a tool and tackle it like a pro.
